The Frij - Cooling Things Up!

Back from the dead

That was the most tiring yet exciting visit to Cebu!

Jamaican Nights proved promising and exhilarating as what the locals say, but Frij must first come off with the bad details before proceeding to the good ones, no roadtrip is flawless.

Ugly part:
- Unorderly entrance lines. Not that Frij cares, squeezing is one of his forte, but after a few perspiring minutes, his group was about to receive the shock of the night...
- NO CAMERAS were allowed! Dang! They had their gear ready to take shots of half neked women when suddenly the world came crashing in after security told them to deposit their gadgets at ANOTHER gate, afterwhich they would fall in line again.

To the producers of the show,
Not everyone from the planet has been to your 11 year event, Frij thinks it wouldn't be too much to put a little "NO CAMERAS" sign on the ticket?! And oh, work on your camera deposit box, if Frij was in a bad mood that day he could've left the show with a new handicam instead.

Mediocre:
So they got in....
Hot women, Hot food, Hot show.....by Cebu standards. The wet bikini competition was nothing but a wet "thick" bikini. The thought of 11 years on the roll made it look like a veteran event by his standards. Lets admit it, Cebu is still made up of conservative people.

The "water sprinkling all over the beach" was a new thing though, he has never been to a wet dance party before. Body heat exchange around grooving men and women coupled with cold water being sprinkled all over the dance area was actually a good mix, just make sure you don't dry up quickly or you're in for a chilling treat.

Nice:
DJ Elmer Dado proved to be a good DJ. The trance and techno mix was very energizing and pleasant at the same time (so Frij is a bit biased on this aspect). Gruppo Tribale with their drums and conga instruments were actually on the same flight as Frij from Bacolod to Cebu, funny part was that he was actually seated beside them at the rear part of the plane. Mean looking bastards but their music trip was good.

Extra:
Took a ferry boat to cross Cebu and Mactan (where the airport is at) precisely at sunset. What a ride!

Flight

Frij is to embark on another flight this weekend.

First stop Bacolod - The City of Smiles, it'll be his second visit to the place. Hopefully another memorable stay full of chow and booze.

Next stop and longer (3 days) would be Cebu. Now this city is promising specially when you're out to see half naked women (ok so there are men too) compete in their wet bikinis. The annual Jamaican Nights is to be celebrated with a bang this weekend. It will be Frij's first time to watch a bikini open outside his turf (about time he checked out the competition). Let's just hope he remembers to use the camera this time.

Things to come

Company outing starts tomorrow and Frij decided not to come. It'll be a semi-private pool affair to be held at Club Manila East, Central. Its got a really huge pool that they even have a portion where you can kayak. Frij is an outdoor person and being at the beach is more rewarding than being in a confined space, besides he can visit the smaller local pool anytime enjoying the same big slides and a wave generator (in replace of the kayak).

It'll be his daughter's 3rd birthday on Monday and he still hasn't got any ideas for a gift (with grandparents who spoil the kid, who can think of something worthy).

HALE released a Special Edition Album including all of their Video Music in one compilation. An addition to the album is their latest music video "Toll Gate", a MUST ADD to my collection, you can definitely hear the Coldplay influence.

Toll Gate

I'm leaving
I'm buckling tight
I turn on the radio
I'm driving out of sight
And i'm in the freeway
The lights are lost in your eyes
Things have been said
I'm lost in my head
It's time to go home

I'm moving
so fast
I can't look back
The streetlights are changing
They mean nothing at all
Maybe i'm stranded
I'm stuck in this place alone
I look out the window
Tomorrow help me find
Let's call it a day

It's over
I'm turning off the lights
This day maybe filled
I'm hearing of you
And i don't have a clue
Tomorrow you'll go
Tomorrow you'll come
